Dr. Baruh Polis
As a Medical Doctor and a Ph.D. student at Bar-Ilan University Medical School, I study the processes happening in Alzheimer’s disease patients’ brains at functional, anatomical, histological, and molecular levels. I use animal and in vitro models of this devastating disease to understand the physiological and molecular processes underlying Alzheimer’s development. Additionally, I am interested in how severely compromised higher-level brain capabilities, such as social and communicative skills can be restored. I approach these research questions by integrating behavioral and molecular biology with imaging and computational methods. My scientific passion lies in the discovery of novel efficient Alzheimer’s disease-modifying agents and evidence-based interventions and therapies.
