Ph.D. Student

Proposed Ph.D. title: Studying the effect of HPV integration at chromosomal level in cervical cancer.

Mahua have completed Master of Technology in Biotechnology from DY Patil University, school of biotechnology and bioinformatics, Navi-Mumbai-India. She did her masters dissertation from Institute of Stem cell and Regenerative Medicine (InStem), Bengaluru-India. Following this she worked at Centre for DNA fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), Hyderabad-India where she studied the role of APCs in colorectal cancer.

Mahua is doing her PhD at Dr. Frenkel Morgenstern’s lab and working to understanding the importance of codon usage in cell cycle and its implication on gene regulation and protein activity. Another project she is working on is to understand how HPV affects the change in chromatin structure, its effect on gene regulation in cervical cancer. She is involved in projects of how liquid biopsies can be used as biomarkers in different diseases.
